Course Description
The cardiovascular system is not just about the heart, but also involves the circulation of blood through the body. When someone says “circulatory”, most of us think about the heart first, but the arteries and veins play a big role in the circulatory system too. Circulation is controlled by valves in the heart and contraction of the cardiac muscle. The heart beats 2 to 3 billion times during the lifespan of the average person. Each of these muscular cycles of contraction depends on specialized cardiac tissues, vital for generating and synchronizing the heartbeat.
