Course Description

This case study of best practice for the development and delivery of modules by open and distance learning has been developed by the Open Learning Foundations working group for health and nursing programmes.

The impetus for the guide came from a series of questions put forward by Peter Foreman at La Trobe University in Australia. These questions raised the same issues we have been grappling with in the UK. By pooling the working groups knowledge and experiences, we have endeavoured to develop a specification to inform and guide practice in our individual institutions.

The specification is also a kite mark of good practice for departments (or faculties or schools) of health and nursing using Open Learning Foundation modules as part of their awards.

This guide has drawn on the QAAs Guidelines on the Quality Assurance of Distance Learning as well as case studies and staff development materials published by the Open Learning Foundation OLF publication (see resources section)
