Course Description

In 1975, Congress responded to allegations that financial institutions were contributing to the decline of urban neighborhoods through restrictive practices, particularly with respect to home loan applications, by enacting the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), implemented by Regulation C. This course examines HMDA-just one of the regulatory practices in place intended to identify discriminatory and unfair lending activity. Through the collection and reporting of home loan data, HMDA identifies possible discriminatory lending patterns."
