Course Description
Overview
Nitrogen oxides (NOx) are a very important family of air polluting chemical compounds. This course explains why NOx are important air pollutants and how NOx are formed and react in the atmosphere. This course also includes the principles on which all NOx control and pollution prevention technologies are based, available NOx technologies for various combustion sources, and performance and cost of NOx technologies.
In this course the student will learn of the various control strategies and be able to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each as they apply to combustion sources and fuel types. The course will be beneficial for a student with basic knowledge of EPA air pollution regulations and an interest in controlling NOx emissions from combustion sources. It is also an excellent overview for those professionals working in the field of air pollution control.
The student is expected to read and review the material contained in Nitrogen Oxides (NOX), Why and How They Are Controlled, USEPA Clean Air Technology Center, EPA 456/F-99-006R.
The student must take a multiple-choice quiz consisting of twenty (20) questions at the end of this course to obtain PDH credits.

This course teaches the following specific knowledge and skills:
State Board Acceptance
This course can be used by professional engineers to fulfill PDH requirements mandated by state and provincial licensing boards.
