Course Description

Upon completion of this course, the participant will: Have an understanding of the working assumptions of recreating partnership therapy; Be able to identify specific clinical tasks important to recreating partnership therapy; and Be familiar with how to build a working alliance with and between both partners of the couple, co-construct well-defined therapeutic goals, and facilitate relationship change. Recreating partnership couples therapy is based on the assumption that couples, no matter how chronic or long-standing their problems, also have strengths and resources and a capacity for working together, which are often unrecognized and underutilized. Veteran therapists Phillip Ziegler and Tobey Hiller provide a pragmatic approach to couples therapy that is solution-oriented, collaborative, and strength-based with the couple at the center of the process.
